Brokers

Licensed by FMCSA, bonded, and legally forbidden from collecting payment on your behalf or co-mingling funds. They negotiate rates with shippers, take a margin, and pay you from their own funds.

Dispatchers

Unlicensed and unregulated at the federal level. A legitimate dispatcher works as your agent for a flat weekly fee and never touches your money. An operation that takes possession of shipper payments without a broker license is operating illegally, and carriers working through them can face double-payment claims.
